The hospice nurse provides hands-on nursing care in the patients home, hospice facility, or wherever the patient resides. Managing pain and other symptoms are a major focus of the hospice nurse, while also educating and providing support to the patient and families regarding the patient’s disease process. Cultural assessments allow the hospice nurse to individualize care specific to the patient’s wishes, needs and cultural beliefs.
